PROFESSOR JACQUES LEMAIRE (France)

In 1986, considering the large overlap between fundamental research and valorisation, J. Lemaire created the Centre National d'Evaluation de Photoprotection (CNEP), a subsidiary company of Université Blaise Pascal. The CNEP was founded 1/3 by the French State, 1/3 by Région Auvergne Council, and 1/3 by 50 Industrial International companies. The Laboratoire de Photochimie, a 45-50 people research unit is dealing with « pure » polymer photooxidation and CNEP, a 14-people research unit is dealing with final formulations. CNEP is handling about 630 original industrial problems per year.

J. Lemaire is the author of about 250 original articles and reviews in International Journal and Proceedings (short list of recent publications).

J. Lemaire has been presenting invited lectures in many international Symposium especially on polymer phototransformations.

J. Lemaire was the co-ordinator of a Brite-Euram E.C. project entitled « An investigation of the parameters involved in the environmental ultimate degradation of plastics » (1990-1993) and CNEP was partner in 2 Brite Euram project entitled « Quality control of polypropylene photostability base on laser exposure » (1991-1993) and « the prediction of long-term sealant performance from dynamic accelerated weathering » (1990-1994 ».

CNEP was also partner of the "Papylum" European contract (2000-2004).

J. Lemaire is presently PDG (President Directeur Général) of CNEP.
