According to the recent report produced by the Ellen McArthur Foundation “the new plastics economy” plastic production has surged from 15million tonnes in 1964 to a whopping 311 tonnes in 2014, worse still it is expected to double over the next 20 years. So the problem we have with plastic waste on land on sea will only get worse, unless we act, and we need to act soon.
It would be fantastic if all the citizens of the world could be persuaded to dispose of their plastic waste responsibly and if it were possible to collect and recycle it to make other products or to burn for energy, but this is still a long way off. Oxo-
